Abstract

Ghulam Abbas is an important Urdu fiction writer of   the 20th century. “Anandi” is one of his representative short stories. This story shows the double standards of society and exploitive behaviors prevailing in society. However, a close study of the text reveals that it revolves around the settlement of a new city and related details. There are many technical gaps in the story. In this paper, the textual and deconstructive study of Anandi will bring out all the gaps in it, which will present a new understanding of this short story.
